Navela is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex or failure of your usual method of contraception. Navela contains a synthetic hormone-like active substance called levonorgestrel. It prevents conception of about 85% of expected pregnancies if used within 72 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse. Navela can only prevent pregnancy if you take it within 72 hours of unprotected sex. It does not work if you are already pregnant. This tablet is for emergency contraception only and should not replace any method of regular contraception as it is less effective.
