Soolantra is a topical cream used specifically for treating the bumps and pimples caused by rosacea. Its active ingredient, ivermectin, works by reducing inflammation and killing demodex mites that are thought to contribute to rosacea.

Soolantra is an ivermectin cream used to treat rosacea. You apply it once a day for several weeks to reduce the redness and spots associated with rosacea.

How Does it Work?

Soolantra cream contains the active ingredient, ivermectin. Ivermectin is used to treat parasitic infections like scabies and worms, but it is also effective in rosacea.

We do not know exactly what causes rosacea, but it has been linked to inflammatory processes and Demodex mites. These parasitic mites cannot be seen with the naked eye. They live on the skin and may cause irritation leading to the symptoms of rosacea.

Ivermectin has anti-parasitic properties which target the Demodex mites, but it is also anti-inflammatory. Rosacea is characterised by redness, spots and thickening of the skin. These symptoms mean that the skin is inflamed. Rosacea can help to reduce the inflammation and redness associated with rosacea.

How to Apply : Use a pea-sized amount of Soolantra cream on each of the five areas of your face: forehead, each cheek, nose and chin. Rub the cream into the skin until it is absorbed. Allow the cream to dry fully before applying any other products to your skin.

The recommended treatment course is up to four months (16 weeks); speak to your doctor about long-term use of this product.
