BETADINE Skin Cleanser is indicated for:

• Acne vulgaris of the face and neck.
• Disinfection of the skin (as a liquid soap).
• As adjuvant to systemic antibiotic therapy in treating septic lesions.

Dosage & Administration

Route of administration: For external use only.

Adults, elderly, and children over 2 years old:

Apply directly or with moistened sponge to the affected areas and work up a rich lather. Allow to remain on the skin for three to five minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with warm water and dry with a clean or sterile towel or gauze. Repeat twice daily until improvement is noted. (Afterwards use twice weekly).

Children under 2 years old:

Limit use to 2-3 days.

Precautions:

Povidone-lodine should not cover for a long period large areas of the skin (e.g., not to more than 10% of the total body surface and for not longer than 14 days) unless strictly indicated. Even after the end of the treatment (up to 3 months), one should look for the early symptoms of possible hyperthyroidism and if necessary the thyroid function should be monitored.

Special caution is needed when regular applications to broken skin are made to patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency.

Avoid solutions containing a detergent if treating open wounds with povidone-iodine.

Restrict use in infants to 2-3 days.

For external use only. In instances of local irritation or sensitivity, discontinue use. Do not heat prior to application.
